McGRAW WENTWORTH NAMED FOR SECOND YEAR AS A “BEST PLACE TO WORK” IN INSURANCE

Michigan-based firm among 28 agents/brokers nationwide recognized by Business Insurance magazine

Troy, Michigan… For the second consecutive year, Michigan-based employee group benefits firm McGraw Wentworth has been named by Business Insurance magazine and the Best Companies Group as one of the “Best Places to Work in Insurance” in the nation.  An alphabetical list of the fifty-four employers representing various sectors of the insurance industry, including twenty-eight agents/brokers, was released in July.  In October, 2010, Business Insurance will publish the rankings and an in-depth report of the program results.

The 2010 Best Places program is open to all publicly or privately-held property/casualty insurers, group life/health insurers, reinsurers, third party administrators, and agents and brokers with 25 or more employees working in the United States and serving the commercial market.  Best Companies Group, an independent workplace excellence research firm, conducted the in-depth survey and assessment.

In 2009, McGraw Wentworth, an employee group benefits broker serving the health care, wellness, and compliance needs of mid-size employers, ranked first among the Small Agents/Brokers (fewer than 250 employees) on the national list.  Of the 2010 list, McGraw Wentworth is the only Michigan-based firm dedicated solely to employee group benefits.

“In a challenging economic climate and during a time of significant industry change, our employees truly make the difference,” commented Thomas P. McGraw, Principal, McGraw Wentworth.  “This is a service- and knowledge-intensive industry in which our employees excel at providing timely advice and support.  They deserve an exceptional workplace.”

Business Insurance, a Crain’s Publication, will honor the winning organizations in its October 4th edition, and at a September luncheon in New York, NY.  A comprehensive overview of the Best Places to Work In Insurance program is available at: http://www.businessinsurance.com/section/best-places-to-work .

Detroit Auto Accident Injury Victims May Have New Lawsuit Options

A recent Michigan Supreme Court decision gives auto accident victims a second chance to bring pain and suffering lawsuits.

If you are one of hundreds of Detroit residents who has been seriously injured in a car accident that wasn\’t your fault- yet you were told you had “no case” by a lawyer because of the state’s strict auto accident threshold law – your legal rights are now restored with the Michigan Supreme Court\’s ruling in McCormick v. Carrier.

The Detroit personal injury lawyers (http://www.michiganautolaw.com/index.php) of Michigan Auto Law have created a helpful list of answers to common questions regarding this new Michigan law and how it affects victims seriously injured in a Detroit auto accident.

Q. What does McCormick v. Carrier mean for injured Detroit car accident victims?

A. Under McCormick v. Carrier, people who seek compensation for injuries and pain and suffering have a better chance at a fair recovery. McCormick says a person can qualify for pain and suffering damages if his or her normal life is affected – not completely altered by a car accident as the previous law required.

Now, for Detroit residents who have suffered very real injuries from car accidents and have been told they had “no case” by personal injury attorneys, there will be a second chance to recover compensation. This includes injuries that did not require long periods of time off of work or years of medical treatment.

Q. I think I may have a car accident case, but I\’m unsure because of the law change. What should I do?

A. If you\’ve been told that you have “no case” by a Michigan auto accident attorney after being injured in any type of motor vehicle accident within the last three years, your important legal rights have now been restored. Keep in mind, there is a three-year statute of limitations for car accident victims to file lawsuits seeking compensation in Michigan. So if a lawyer has told you that under the old law, you did not have a case, you should discuss your legal rights with an experienced personal injury attorney immediately.
