Baker Tilly, with the support of Gleaners Community Foodbank, is hosting a community-wide food drive August 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at their Southfield office. The goal is to stuff two Gleaners vans with more than 2,000 lbs of food.
The drive will support Gleaners\’ KidSnack Program, which offers a snack to kids who attend after-school tutoring or recreational programs in 70 low-income neighborhood schools in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties.
\”It\’s really important for Baker Tilly to give back to the community,\” Alan Whitman, Baker Tilly partner and regional market leader, said. \”Hunger is a big problem in Metro Detroit and we\’re proud to support Gleaners and their efforts to help those in need.\”
Baker Tilly is also reaching out to their friends and colleagues in the community for support. More than 20 of their local clients and business partners are holding their own personal food drives to help reach the 2,000 lb goal. Baker Tilly staff volunteers are also hitting the local neighborhoods and asking approximately 1,500 residents to leave a bag of donation items outside their house on the morning of August 11 for volunteers to collect.
Community members are welcome to bring nonperishable donation items to Baker Tilly, located at One Towne Square in Southfield, during the drive. For more information, contact Brandi Marino at 248 368 8778 or brandi.marino@bakertilly.com.
